Greetings Members 11/08/2020
I want to start off by saying “I hope all our members and families are safe and healthy”. I really do not need to say much more since our newspapers and airwaves preach this every minute, please listen and abide by these precautions, there are more cases and deaths reported daily. We need our members to stay healthy so that someday we can get back to normal, and enjoy our monthly dinners and picnic.
An update from my previous letter, my little sister Jenny is recovering from her breast cancer. As of now, all her cancer has been removed and no chemo or radiation was needed, a real blessing. She sent me a thank you note for all the Meat Dealers for “how truly grateful for the generous donation from the bottom of my heart, and may God bless each and every one of you “. Next, Kevin Juszyk, Laurie Callahan’s son, is battling a tumor in his chest. He is receiving aggressive stage four chemo treatments. He is a tough, strong young man with a family, but still needs our prayers and support. Laurie sent a wonderful thank you for the Meat Dealer donation, and our thoughts and prayers. May God look over both Jenny and Kevin and help them through these terrible sicknesses.
Next, I got a letter from Adam Sweet, son of members Cecelia and David Sweet, requesting a donation for the family of Richard Sweet. Richard is David’s brother who passed away on Oct. 22, suffering from heart and lung complications. The directors OK’d $1,500.00 to help pay for funeral expenses. Some of you may remember Rich Sweet, he was the caretaker for several years at Veys Hill Haven where we had our picnics for many years. Please keep the Sweet family in your prayers.
Member Jim Ripa called me a few days ago and said he has a stair chair lift. It is made for a split entry but can easily work for straight stairs. If you can use or know someone that can use it, call him at 402-679-0740. He needs to know by 11/15/2020 or he will donate to a charity. He has pictures and dimensions.
We are planning to donate to the Food Bank, Open Door Mission, and Good Fellows or the holidays. If you would like to see us donate to some other good cause, please send me an email with some information.
Thank you for your time, stay safe, stay healthy, and enjoy the holidays the very best you can.
Sincerely, Gary
